“In this case, in this movie, really helping the voiceless. “The only elements we’ve retained are the title and the element of a man helping people,” Wenk explained. Fans of the show may also be wary of the fact that the film’s sole screenwriter Richard Wenk ( The Expendables 2) had never seen a single episode of “The Equalizer,” something he felt was an asset when we talked to him. Gone are the cool car, fancy clothes and English accent, but one of the few things that hasn’t changed is the name of the main character, Robert McCall (Washington), his mysterious past as a covert military type and a passion for getting his vigilante on, in this case to help an underage prostitute named Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz) get out from under the thumb of the Russian mob. The setting for this big screen retelling has been transplanted from the grimy streets of New York to the blue-collar alleyways of Boston, most likely to keep it from crossing too far into “Taxi Driver” ripoff territory. His ex-CIA character Robert McCall took out the trash in the form of rapists, murderers, drug dealers and various other scum-of-the-earth types. In the original show which ran from 1985 to 1989, English actor Edward Woodward (“The Wicker Man”) dealt out justice free of charge for those who answered his personal ad seeking help. The footage shot so far is exciting and darkly dramatic, and star Denzel Washington seems to be on the verge of creating another iconic character that blends both his dramatic and tough guy chops. I think this is a very good question that we can ask ourselves as part of evaluation. Before we ask people,we can actually ask our selves first. It’s day 48 of 60 in the production of Antoine Fuqua’s adaptation of the cult 1980’s TV series The Equalizer, and all things being equal, it seems to be going pretty well. He said he had done some bad things in his life which he is not proud of.But he promised someone he love that he will never go back to that path again. He made his choice and he made a huge difference. Mccal gave him the chance to be redeem himself,to be do the right thing and to be good again. The cop seemed to take that path.Circumstances made us,define us and we can tell many things about the person just based on the choices they make. One moral lesson I can draw from this movie is the choice we make in life when caught in certain circumstances. It turns out most of the men who run the illegal business used to be good people. The cop used to be a good cop. I really love Washington. The straight mysterious kind face. The way he torture his enemies and the way he can look up women without perving on them.It was like meeting him makes you instantly feel you have a father,a protector and someone you can entrust your whole life without doubt. This movie was in no way sexualized or overly romanticized. It was a violent but also a clean movie. It was exciting and scary.Watching this movie makes me feel like there's just a man out there who genuinely just want to help and protect women without wanting sex in return. He was just a concern citizen with a kind heart.Just a regular guy who works in a shop who just feel the need to do the things he needed to do in the name of humanity. I'm not much into action movies these days specially the new ones but there's a big exception when it comes to Washington's movies. He just doesn't disappoint his audience. There's something in him,a bit of naughtiness and toughness when trying to catch the bad guys. Well,I'm familiar with the breaking of glass, mysterious killing and all but the movie was very interesting because of Washington. He puts that interesting character on the movie. There's something in him that makes me excited and thrilled watching. He just had that sympathetic connection with his audience. He doesn't need a mask when dealing with the enemy face to face. His enemies knows him but the girl he saved doesn't know what he did for her. It's not the usual movie where the leading man kills everyone who comes his way morbidly and you don't have any logical reason to explain how he did it.This is one of the things why I loved Denzel Washington's movies. It doesn't insult my intelligence. His movies are informative and he doesn't need a hot,big boobs and booty leading lady to attract viewers.
